Seeing Stars: The blog
I started the Seeing Stars blog on November 1, 2012, the day after I was diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma, a type of breast cancer. I soon discovered that the blog didn't just keep family and friends updated. And it didn't just record events. The blog helped me organize my thoughts and focus on the humor, irony, and beauty in life.
As a result, I don’t think of Seeing Stars as a breast cancer blog. It’s therapy and a creative outlet for me, and I hope it’s entertaining and informative for you.

About the title, Seeing Stars
The breast cancer diagnosis was a blow. I exercise, get lots of sleep, have minimal risk factors, and decent karma. How could I have breast cancer? It was like getting whacked across the head with a two-by-four: I was seeing stars. And since I love double-meanings, the saying, “Two men look out through the same bars. One sees mud, and one, the stars” came to mind. Nothing against mud, but I’d rather be the one looking at the stars. So the Seeing Stars blog was born.
